A teacher can never truly teach unless he is still learning himself. -Rabindranath Tagore
Am I too smart to learn? The quote above made me ask myself that question. The obvious answer is that I am by no means too smart to learn.
But what do my actions show? What have I done today, this week, this month, this year to learn?
The truth is I go to a lot of training. Training, that is, that I am providing. As the teacher.
I have been lax in my learning. Sure, I am still reading. And this is incredibly important to the learning process. But when was the last time I actually attended a course as the student? When was the last time I even looked for a class to attend as student?
The answer is not recently enough. That ends today. I am going to start the search today. I will find a way to continue my professional development and self-improvement.
As Ray Dalio stated, “From this perspective, we can see that perfection doesn’t exist; it is a goal that fuels and never-ending process of adaptation.” I am not too smart to learn. The journey to professionalism is a never-ending process and today I continue that journey.
