Officer safety doesn’t end when your shift is over. It doesn’t end when you walk out of the station or when you get out of your uniform. Officer safety should cover way more than that.

We have written about it here before, but the threat still exists. Too many of the folks that work in public safety – dispatch, fire/EMS, law enforcement – continue to suffer in silence. They believe that struggling is a sign of weakness. That it’s a shameful secret to be dealt with on their own.

Nothing could be further from the truth. If you’re struggling, it means only one thing – you’re human. Nothing more, nothing less. Everybody goes through the valleys. Everybody. And most of them never see the terrible things that you do.

If you are struggling, the incredible folks over at Blue Help have some amazing resources. They are committed to serving those who serve others. Their campaign, I Will Listen, isn’t just lip service to attract attention. They seriously will. Go check them out here.

And here is something else you should know – I Will Listen. I’m safe. Get a hold of me at mwarren@commandpresence.net.

Going home safe is important. Living safe is equally as important.
