David Elola is the Director of Statewide Training with the Tennessee Corrections Institute. He began his career in civilian law enforcement with the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office, where he served the community in multiple capacities during his ten years of tenure with the agency. David joined the Tennessee Corrections Institute in 2020 as a Detention Facilities Specialist and after two years was appointed to his current position.
David serves in the United States Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer, has served in a variety of roles within the military police community, and has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He currently holds the rank of Sergeant First Class promotable and serves as the interim Command Sergeant Major for the 2nd-100th Military Police Battalion. David recently finished his United States Army Military Police School instructor time where he earned the prestigious title of Master Army Instructor, an honor that less than one hundred instructors have ever been able to earn.
David graduated with the highest honors from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (2018) and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (2019) with a focus on criminology. He holds instructional certifications in use of force disciplines, instructional design, curriculum design, facilitation, victim advocacy, suicide prevention and intervention, resiliency and holistic fitness, and, most importantly, leadership; all which he regularly instructs.
David’s primary passion is advancing leadership initiatives across the state and the country. He is impassioned by sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He considers himself a lifelong student and enjoys learning what knowledge and experience others share with him.
David lives in Bon Aqua, Tennessee with his wife, Callie, and their five children: Isabella, Aurora, Addie Jo, Rosie, and Gabriel.
