David T. Snively has worked in public safety since 2007 at every rank from Officer to Interim Chief of Police, and he remains a sworn part-time officer in Georgia. He has served since 2023 as a Program Manager at the International Association of Chiefs of Police where he manages a portfolio of grant funded projects that provide training and technical assistance to police agencies throughout the United States. David is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Police Staff and Command and PERF's Senior Management Institute for Police. He is also a Master Instructor and holds several specialty instructor certificates in use of force and de-escalation. In addition to his professional experience, David is an affiliate instructor and PhD candidate at Georgia State University, where his research focuses on the impact of police agency education and training requirements. He is a National Institute of Justice LEADS Scholar and a Doctoral Fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
