Chief David A. Ogden has been a successful law enforcement executive with over 37 years in policing and a BA degree in criminal justice and is pursuing a Master's in Leadership. He is the current Chief of Police in the Town of Windermere, where he has led a successful transformation in the agency. He was the former Director of the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange and a Captain for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit. He retired after 27 years of notable service to the agency. He served in the following areas: High-Risk Incident Commander, Training Division Captain, Traffic/Motors/DUI Divisions, Undercover Narcotics, Tactical Operations, and 14 years on the SWAT team. Chief Ogden firmly believes in teamwork and the importance of good leadership.
Chief Dave Ogden has developed a deep appreciation for the spirit of volunteerism in our local community and its importance to the law enforcement profession. He currently sits on several local nonprofit charities, including the West Orange Dream Center (president), Ironmen of God Ministries (President), the Roper YMCA Board, the Michael Callin Scholarship Fund, and the Windermere Police Department Foundation, Inc. He works with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a program that makes and delivers beds to children who don’t have them.
Dave Ogden is married and has four children. In honor of one of his children, who lost a battle to a rare neurological disease, his family founded a local charity. The Ogden family is actively involved with local charities and nonprofits and has started a ministry called Got Your Six First Responder Ministries, which helps first responders develop a balanced life. They also created a short film to highlight the challenges first responders face.
Chief Dave Ogden's personal interests, including his lifelong dedication to martial arts, add a unique dimension to his professional profile. Holding black belts in multiple disciplines, including a 4th-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he has competed across the nation and in Brazil, showcasing his expertise. As a subject matter expert in the use of force, Dave has instructed thousands of police officers across the country in his Ground Combatives Course. He currently offers a free seminar each month for first responders. Dave was also the owner of Gracie Barra Clermont, a world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu facility.
